Biohacker Bryan Johnson has sparked fresh controversy by revealing he keeps his girlfriend Kate Tolo's menstrual blood in a -80C freezer for health testing. He claims the sample could unlock major clues about women's health.
Johnson's Latest Project
The tech entrepreneur turned biohacker has built a following by documenting his quest to cheat death on social media. His girlfriend, Kate Tolo, is increasingly part of the show, and their latest science project has ignited heated debates.
“Kate's period blood is in my -80C freezer,” Johnson wrote on X. “Around 10 mL.” The Blueprint co-founder called the sample “valuable and underutilized,” adding, “It's a non-invasive look into the uterus. She collected the blood during her last cycle.”
Testing for Toxins and Disease
Johnson says the sample will be used to search for signs of diseased tissue, microplastics, endocrine disruptors, and PFAS “forever chemicals,” which can accumulate in the body over time. “This is great because you get the data without surgical biopsy, it can be repeated every single cycle, and it measures the uterine environment directly instead of inferring it from a standard blood draw,” he explained.
The project aims to map female reproductive health and ultimately cure Tolo's endometriosis. Kate, 30, is undergoing a strict 100-day regime tracking her menstrual cycle in extreme detail, reportedly racking up 14 million data points. Her protocol includes spitting into collection tubes, cheek swabbing, sleeping with an acrylic vaginal tracker, and using a “techno-tampon” for deeper data extraction.
Diagnoses and Controversy
Johnson claims the tracking has already uncovered diagnoses for Tolo, including polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome and adenomyosis, conditions linked to chronic, severe period pain. He argues menstrual blood offers a direct “uterine blueprint,” containing endometrial tissue, immune cells, and stem cells, and that freezing a 10mL sample could help examine the uterine environment without invasive biopsies.
The billionaire has previously made headlines for his unusual health claims, including describing Tolo's vagina as “top 1%” after performing oral sex and posting the results online. He wrote on X at the time: “Just gave Kate oral sex. Goodnight everyone.”
