Beverley Callard has returned to social media with a fresh health update after she was treated by paramedics on the set of Irish soap Fair City last week. The former Coronation Street star told fans she has been resting and feeling sensible, while also revealing a light-hearted disagreement with her husband over a new dog.
Collapse on set and ambulance call-out
Last week, Callard revealed she had lost consciousness for around 10 minutes while preparing to film a scene with her on-screen daughter. An ambulance was called, but she was checked over by paramedics on site and allowed to go home to rest. She said her blood pressure was "through the roof" and that she has "not been right since the radiotherapy" for breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in February.
She explained: "I've been at work this week, filming the most amazing scenes. Really good, great scripts working with people who are so good, but good fun as well." She added that she felt "a complete fraud" because she felt "perfectly normal" at home, but the dogs "know I'm poorly" and won't leave her alone.
Awaiting test results and biopsies
Callard is due back at the hospital next week and is awaiting results of tests and biopsies taken from her stomach. In her latest update, she said: "Okay, update. I've still been resting and being very sensible."
She then moved on to discuss a trip to a dog rescue with her husband, Jon McEwan, where they were deciding whether to adopt a dog named Elvis. McEwan appeared in the video and said, "We're not having Elvis," while Callard insisted it was "under discussion."
Playful exchange with husband over dog
The couple went back and forth in a playful exchange, with McEwan joking that he made it sound like he was in charge, to which Callard laughed: "Of course you're not!" Captioning the post, she wrote: "It's funny how Jon thinks he's in charge. I'm wearing him down slowly, also Jon thinks he's clever with his watch, operating the camera, very smooth, not."
