Australian 80s rock icon Angry Anderson, 79, has been rushed to hospital after suffering a severe cardiac arrest, his family has confirmed.
Family Statement Confirms Treatment
In a statement, his family said: "On behalf of Angry and his family, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming messages of support, love, and kind words. Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes mean more to Angry and his family than we can express. We would like to let everyone know that Angry suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently in hospital receiving treatment and the care he needs."
They continued: "At this time, we kindly ask that you please respect the privacy of Angry and his family as they focus on Angry, his treatment, and his recovery. We appreciate everyone's understanding and ask that you continue to keep Angry and his family in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead."
Career and Advocacy
The family also expressed gratitude to fans for their "kindness, understanding, and continued support," adding: "It is comforting to know just how many people are thinking of Angry and wishing him strength in his recovery."
Angry Anderson, otherwise known as Gary Stephen Anderson, shot to fame as lead vocalist of hard rock outfit Rose Tattoo. He has been part of the band since 1976 and is now the longest-serving remaining member. He has also been a member of rock bands Buster Brown and the Party Boys.
Legacy and Health Advocacy
As a solo artist, he released the 1987 song Suddenly, which climbed to number 3 on the UK Singles Chart and went on to become a worldwide smash.
Tragically, five of Angry's Rose Tattoo bandmates have lost their lives to cancer. He has since become a passionate advocate for men's health and previously featured in a television campaign raising awareness of prostate cancer.
