Alison Hammond has said she suffered a panic attack on This Morning after undergoing a series of checks at the hospital.
The presenter, 51, was rushed off set in a disturbing moment on ITV, after she was heard gasping for breath and seen clutching her chest. The show was halfway through a segment about pets, with Dr Scott Miller visibly distressed at her exit, and quickly cut to adverts.
Co-host steps in
The programme returned with her Friday co-host Dermot O’Leary, who said Hammond was ‘feeling a little unwell’ and ‘had to duck out’. Hammond later took to social media from a hospital bed to share she was having her heart checked out after experiencing a ‘palpitation’ but assured fans that she was alright.
She has now posted another short clip to her Instagram, sharing that she has been discharged from hospital and is back at home.
Hammond’s update
Hammond told her followers: ‘I’m home, I’m safe and I’m feeling so much better.’ She continued: ‘Thanks to everyone at the NHS who did the checks on my heart, lungs, bloods. I’m all okay. It’s all clear. ‘Which would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. I mean, the same of it.
‘But it felt very real to me. I’m really new to panic attacks, so I need to learn more about it.’ She added: ‘I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at This Morning who looked after me. All of your messages. Dermot, who’s just been incredible. ‘Honestly, it’s really warmed my heart. I didn’t necessarily want to be on the news or anything like that but this is a new world to me. ‘I’m going to take stock, get some rest and I’ll see you soon.’
