Alex Jones Throws Milk in Perimenopause Rage Revelation
Alex Jones Reveals Perimenopause After Milk-Throwing Rage

Alex Jones has revealed that she thinks she may have experienced perimenopausal symptoms as she reveals that she recently threw four pints of milk in a fit of rage.

The 49-year-old presenter appeared on the Dig It podcast this week with Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball, where she opened up about her recent experience with perimenopause.

Denial and the 'Minefield' of Perimenopause

"Oh, this is a minefield. I mean, are there enough weeks in the year to discuss this?" she began on the show. "Am I perimenopausal yet, I think I am slightly in denial. I suppose I had my youngest child at 44 and so I don't know whether my body is confused because I have tricked it into thinking that it's younger than it is because I haven't really had any symptoms."

"But then when I threw a four-pinter of milk across the kitchen the other day, I thought 'oh my God here we are'. The rage has started. It is so vague and thankfully, and I think this is brilliant, we are talking about it more and more now."

The star concluded: "So am I in denial? Slightly. Should I be on HRT? Probably."

Perimenopause Defined

Perimenopause is the transition from ovulation to menopause when hormone levels decline and symptoms such as irregular periods, lighter bleeding, and hot flashes begin.

In June, Alex revealed that she was previously concerned about going through menopause early, much like her mother who went though menopause at 33.

"I worried about early menopause because my mum had hers at 33. She didn't even blink and had no symptoms. She had me and my sister at 24 and 26, so it worked well for her in some respects.

"Perimenopause has definitely hit me now and the main thing that helps me is nutrition and exercise," she told Woman&Home magazine.

Motherhood at the Right Time

Alex had her first child at 41 and has three children; Teddy, nine, Kit, seven and Annie, four, with her husband Charlie Thomson. Speaking to the same outlet, Alex said that she believed she had children at just the right time.

"I feel like I had kids at the right time. I'm a big fatalist and think that what's meant for you will come your way. I forget that sometimes, and I have moments when I'm like, 'Why didn't it happen sooner?' but I think things happen when you're ready," she said.

"We could have had children sooner, but I wouldn't change our decision to wait. Life is an opportunity to make the best of everything. Charlie and I had travelled, bought our first house, and we were in a good place and ready. People say, 'You'll look back on this and hanker for these days.'"

"I already know how lucky I am to have kids at this age, and it's amazing. All of the mundane stuff, the WhatsApp groups, the running around, and the 50 million water bottles you can never find lids for. I think, ''Imagine if it was quiet in the house?'' The noise and the pace and the rhythm of it is what makes you feel vital and alive. I appreciate it so much."
