Fear of Paternity After One-Off Encounter
A reader wrote in about a one-off sexual encounter with an old school friend in May. He described it as fantastic, urgent, and naughty. Three weeks later, she married her long-term partner, whom the reader knows professionally. He worries the husband will find out about the encounter. His sister, who also knows the woman, has just told him she is pregnant. The reader is terrified he might be the father and fears the child could look like him.
Jane advises him to calm down and see what happens, noting there's no point in worrying unnecessarily. She points out that if the friend has been having regular sex with her husband before and after the wedding, the baby is likely his.
