A mother was left gobsmacked after her toddler got hold of a tub of Vaseline during a nap, resulting in a sticky hair disaster. Mickelle Farnsworth, 30, tucked her daughter in unaware that the child had accessed the petroleum jelly from a dressing table drawer.
Upon waking the child, Mickelle discovered her daughter's hair standing straight up, stiff with Vaseline. Despite washing it four times, the product remained stubbornly in place. She shared a photo on Threads, captioning it: 'My child got into the Vaseline today. This was her hair after a bath where we had washed her hair four times.'
Mickelle admitted defeat, filing the incident under 'mistakes we will not make as parents again.' She told Newsweek that her toddler had used half the tub, also smearing it on clothes, the bed, and a teddy bear. 'Once we shampooed her hair three times, it was clear it wasn't going to come out easy,' she said.
Hundreds of Threads users offered advice and shared similar stories. One hairstylist recommended using conditioner instead of dish soap, followed by a clarifying shampoo. Another parent recalled their own children covering themselves and the cat in coconut oil. Mickelle later updated the post, saying: 'We ended up washing her hair about 12 times over the course of the evening and she still woke up looking like Professor Snape.'
