Strictly Star Shines Despite Partner's Withdrawal
Professional dancer Dianne Buswell has captivated Strictly Come Dancing audiences with her radiant performances while expecting her first child. The Australian star, who is pregnant with YouTuber Joe Sugg's baby, returned to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom floor in spectacular fashion over the weekend.
From Competition to Supporting Role
Buswell began this year's series partnered with Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis, with their 'Team Aussie' pairing generating significant early excitement. However, their journey was cut short when Dennis suffered a significant calf tear that forced his withdrawal from the competition in November 2025.
Despite this setback, Dianne has maintained an active presence throughout the series. She's been regularly spotted in the Clauditorium offering support to fellow competitors and professionals, while also participating in several group routines.
Weekend of Showstopping Performances
The live show from Blackpool Tower Ballroom featured Buswell dancing prominently during a medley of Steps' greatest hits. She returned during Sunday's results show for a particularly memorable performance, dancing alongside Vito Coppola to Lewis Capaldi's live rendition of his new single 'The Day That I Die'.
The routine also featured professionals Lauren Oakley and Neil Jones, creating a stunning visual spectacle that left viewers in awe of Buswell's energy and grace during her pregnancy.
Fan Adoration and Personal Changes
Viewers quickly took to social media to express their admiration. One fan wrote on X: "Dianne getting to perform at the front of the group number on Saturday night and now with Lewis Capaldi tonight... Has definitely been a highlight of strictly this weekend for me."
Another supporter noted the special significance: "Obsessed with Blackpool being the Dianne show this weekend, how special for her to be able to show her son her leading these incredible routines one day."
The pregnancy has brought personal changes for Buswell, who revealed on the Winning Isn't Everything podcast with last year's winner Chris McCausland that she's struggling to find clothes that fit properly. "I can't fit into any of my jeans," she confessed, describing a shopping trip where she discovered she needed to go up two sizes.
Looking Forward
Dianne and Joe Sugg, who met when partnered on Strictly in 2018 and finished as runners-up, announced their pregnancy news via Instagram in September 2025. Their post simply read: "Our little baby boy [heart emoji] we cannot wait to meet you."
While her competitive journey with Stefan Dennis ended prematurely, Buswell continues to be an inspirational presence on the show, proving that pregnancy doesn't mean stepping away from the dance floor entirely.
