In a story that sounds more like a dramatic film plot than real life, first-time mother Kira Cousins has revealed how she delivered her own baby in a bathroom without ever realising she was pregnant.
The 28-year-old from South East London experienced what she believed was intense stomach cramps, only to discover she was in active labour and moments away from becoming a mother.
The Night Everything Changed
"I just thought I had really bad stomach ache," Kira confessed, describing the evening that would forever alter her life. "I went to the toilet and then suddenly there was a baby there."
The shocking moment left her in complete disbelief, struggling to process the reality of what was happening. "I was just in complete and utter shock. I didn't believe what was happening," she recalled of the life-changing experience.
Emergency Response and Recovery
Following the unexpected delivery, emergency services rushed to the scene, transporting both mother and newborn to hospital for essential medical care.
Thankfully, despite the dramatic entrance into the world, baby Riley is now thriving and described as "perfect" by his relieved mother.
Looking Back at the Pregnancy
In hindsight, Kira acknowledges there were subtle signs she now recognises as pregnancy symptoms, though at the time they seemed like minor health issues.
"I was still having my periods, I had no bump, no morning sickness, no cravings," she explained, detailing why the pregnancy went completely unnoticed.
Her story serves as a remarkable reminder that every pregnancy journey is unique, sometimes defying all conventional expectations and medical norms.
