Dramatic dashcam footage has captured the moment a lorry burst into flames after a collision on a motorway in Voronezh, southwestern Russia. The incident occurred on November 22, around 12:20 pm, when a wheel detached from a Scania truck and rolled into the path of a silver Ford Focus.
The Ford Focus, travelling behind the camera car, struck the lorry head-on. Seconds later, the Scania mounted metal barriers and was engulfed in flames, followed by three large explosions. The driver of the lorry, which was UK-based, can be seen escaping from the vehicle as thick black smoke billows out.
The driver of the Ford Focus was taken to a medical facility, according to reports. Bystanders ran down a nearby hill in an apparent attempt to assist the lorry driver. The occupants of the car with the dashcam remained calm initially, with a woman alerting the male driver to reverse, but she broke into hysterics upon seeing the flames and hearing the explosions.
