Jamie Laing has faced backlash from mothers online after he praised his wife Sophie Habboo for creating a 'magical Christmas' just three weeks after giving birth to their son Ziggy. The Made in Chelsea star shared a video on Instagram showing Sophie snuggled with their baby and adding final touches to their dining table, captioning it: 'POV: your wife is 3 weeks postpartum and still creates a magical Christmas.'
While some followers celebrated the post, others criticised it for setting unrealistic expectations for new mothers. One comment read: 'This is lovely but also let’s not normalise postpartum women being “superwoman” it’s not normal.' Another added: 'I normally love your content, but this is an insensitive post and sets an unrealistic expectation/pressure on other new mothers. Not everyone has the money, resources and support to be able to do this.'
Some questioned whether the couple had outside help, with one user writing: 'Good she is recovering but be honest with your posts. You’ve paid someone to do this and got a chef in to do everything. If you had a caterer (family members) helping please say so. Not detracting but keep it real for those not able to get near this.'
Jamie and Sophie welcomed their son Ziggy earlier this month and have since checked into a postpartum wellness retreat. The couple, who married in 2023, recently moved into a £12 million home ahead of the baby's arrival.
