Kylie Kelce, wife of retired NFL star Jason Kelce, has shared details of a miscarriage she experienced before the birth of their first daughter, Wyatt, now six. Speaking on her podcast Not Gonna Lie, she became tearful as she recounted the loss, which occurred in 2018.
In the episode, released in honour of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, Kylie explained that she and Jason had begun telling their families about the pregnancy after a six-week appointment. She recalled surprising family members, including Jason's mother, father, aunt, grandmother, and brother Travis Kelce, with baby booties. However, at her 12-week scan, doctors could not find a heartbeat. She described the moment as feeling like 'everything went into slow motion'.
Kylie revealed that the baby had stopped developing between nine and ten weeks, a condition known as a missed miscarriage. The difficult news came on Jason's birthday, making the day particularly painful. She said she tried to avoid telling him but eventually did.
Following the loss, Kylie said she approached subsequent pregnancies with more caution, waiting until she was 16 to 20 weeks along before sharing the news with loved ones. She admitted to Googling survival probabilities for each pregnancy, including her youngest daughter Finn, now six months.
Despite having four children, Kylie emphasised that the pain of miscarriage 'still hurts' and 'never leaves you'. She encouraged open dialogue with doctors and urged those affected to seek support, highlighting the importance of having understanding people around.
