Former Made in Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have announced the birth of their first child, a baby boy named Ziggy. The couple shared the news on social media, posting a photo of themselves cradling their newborn son with the caption: “Ziggy, you have our whole hearts.”
The 37-year-old BBC Radio 1 presenter and his wife, 31, also shared a series of Polaroid-style images from the delivery room, showing Habboo beaming on the birthing bed while Laing wrapped his arms around her and their baby. The couple first revealed they were expecting in June, with a video of their baby scan.
In an interview with The Times in April, Laing admitted he had once been “really scared” about having children, but said a clip on Instagram had changed his perspective. “The best thing I ever had is being called Dad,” he recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh, wouldn’t that be cool?’ So now I’m so down for it. I would like to have loads.”
Throughout the pregnancy, Habboo documented her journey, speaking candidly about difficult symptoms including “frail and rotting” teeth and occasional fainting spells. She also described the swelling that left her feeling as though her “petite feet” had turned into “massive hooves.”
Ziggy’s arrival comes two years after the couple wed at Chelsea Town Hall, followed by a lavish celebration in Marbella, Spain, attended by fellow MIC stars including Sam Thompson, Spencer Matthews, Olivia Bentley, Emily Blackwell and Oliver Proudlock. The pair launched the podcast NearlyWeds before their wedding, which later evolved into NewlyWeds.
