A couple with a 35-year age gap have welcomed their first child together on the same day as the husband's 70th birthday. Glenda, 35, gave birth to Roy Briley III on 6 June 2025, coinciding with her husband Roy's birthday.
The pair first met in November 2020 when Glenda approached Roy, a real-estate and insurance company owner, for advice on starting her own insurance venture. They formed an instant connection and had dinner that evening, going on four more dates within a week. They moved in together two months later, got engaged on Valentine's Day 2022, and married on 27 July 2022 in a small ceremony with 20 guests.
Eager to start a family, they began IVF in September 2022. Roy, who had previously battled prostate cancer, underwent surgery to extract sperm. Glenda became pregnant on their third IVF attempt in December 2024. Baby Roy is Roy's ninth child; he has eight children from two previous marriages.
Roy, a semi-retired businessman from Anchorage, Alaska, says he feels a responsibility to live healthily for his wife and son. He exercises on a treadmill six times a week and does three to four gym sessions weekly, drinking only water since 2022. He acknowledges online criticism but says the relationship works for them.
Glenda, who was 29 when they met, says they have more similarities than differences. Her mother, Rose, 56, initially questioned the relationship. Roy notes that family members have taken time to warm up, but five years on, they are taken seriously. The couple plans to expand their family further.
