Stranger Things Stars Reunite in Netflix Detective Drama

Stranger Things may have concluded, but its stars are already reuniting for an exciting new project on Netflix. The streaming giant has announced a gripping detective drama titled The God of the Woods, based on the best-selling book series by acclaimed author Liz Moore.

Star-Studded Cast

Leading the series are two familiar faces from the hit sci-fi show: Maya Hawke, who portrayed the beloved Robin Buckley, and Nell Fisher, who joined the cast as Holly Wheeler in the final season. Hawke will take on the role of investigator Judy Luptack, while Fisher plays 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar, a girl who mysteriously disappears from her family’s summer camp.

Joining them are a host of other talented actors, including Damon Gupton (known for Bates Motel), Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), and Benjamin Walker (The Rings of Power).

Creative Team

Author Liz Moore will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on the project, collaborating with Mindhunter writer and producer Liz Hannah. Together, they aim to bring Moore’s intricate story to life.

The official synopsis describes the series as a multigenerational drama set in the Adirondacks. It delves into the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of Barbara Van Laar, following an earlier family tragedy that may be connected. As the past and present collide, the family’s wealth and influence unravel, exposing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.

Past Collaborations

This reunion is not the first time Stranger Things cast members have worked together since the show’s end. Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair) and David Harbour (Jim Hopper) both lent their voices to the animated sports movie Goat, with McLaughlin voicing the lead character and Harbour playing a rhinoceros athlete.

The God of the Woods is set to premiere on Netflix, promising fans a compelling mystery filled with suspense and drama.
