Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba has revealed he was rushed to hospital on Saturday with an eye emergency that has left him 'seeing triple'. The 40-year-old TV personality spent six hours at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital as medics examined his 'blurring, dilated, weeping eyes'. He later shared on Instagram Stories that he is now on the road to recovery.
Hospital Visit and Recovery
Ore posted a photo of himself holding a dressing over his eye, followed by another wearing sunglasses while leaving the hospital. He captioned the post: 'Sunglasses for the foreseeable - doctors orders. Thank you MCR again for coming to my aid. 6 hours on site, multiple scans and all my snacks devoured within 20 minutes. I leave seeing triple and with two months worth of meds! But we're very gratefully on the mend.'
The broadcaster did not disclose the exact nature of his eye problem but added: 'Holding hot, purple rubber glove over my blurring, dilated, weeping eyes was a new one.'
Previous Personal Revelations
In November, Ore bravely spoke for the first time about his secret 30-year porn addiction, admitting he spent 'thousands and thousands' on adult content after being first exposed to it at age nine. He separated from his wife Portia in September 2024 after nine years of marriage, and they co-parent their two children, Roman, seven, and Genie, four.
On the We Need To Talk podcast, Ore revealed: 'Shame kept me silent for 30 years. It took me 30 years, two deaths, and a divorce to finally go: here's what's happening.' He said he wanted to highlight the issue of children seeing sexual imagery on social media, adding: 'This is me putting my life as it is on the line, to save my children and to guide anybody else's children.'
Career Highlights
Ore became a household name after winning Strictly in 2016 with dance partner Joanne Clifton, in the show's most-watched final ever with over 13 million viewers. Since then, he has pursued a successful musical theatre career, including starring as Caractacus Potts in the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
