Nurse Describes Fight To Save Girl At Formby Beach

A 15-year-old girl has died after getting into difficulty in the water at Formby beach on Bank Holiday Monday. Chiedza Nyanjowa, from Cheshire, was pulled from the sea and rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where she passed away on May 30.

Two off-duty nurses who were at the beach performed CPR on the teenager for 30 minutes until an air ambulance arrived. A person close to one of the nurses said: 'They are the ones who gave life saving treatment on the beach for 30 minutes until the air ambulance arrived. They are both nurses.'

Chiedza's family paid tribute, describing her as 'a bubbly person' who loved Christ and going to church. They said she loved cooking and wanted to become a nurse. The family expressed gratitude to everyone who helped her.
