A NHS gastroenterologist has been suspended for six months after a tribunal found him guilty of inappropriate behaviour, including showing explicit videos to a colleague and making sexual remarks.
Dr Stavros Dimitriadis, who worked at University Hospital Coventry, was also accused of propositioning a female staff member and showing her unsolicited nude photos.
Tribunal findings
According to a tribunal report, Dr Dimitriadis would walk alongside his colleague and put his arm around her shoulders, at one point saying: "I'm going to have sex with you." He also bragged about having slept with every nurse at a previous hospital and mentioned his enjoyment of visiting sex museums.
The report described how he placed his mobile phone on a desk with the screen facing upwards and scrolled through an X-rated gallery, including a video of himself having sex, while the colleague watched without consent. He was described as "smirking" and unconcerned that she could see the content.
Doctor's response
Dr Dimitriadis expressed regret, stating: "I regret that I practically abused my senior position, so I brought Ms A into a position where she could not object." The Medical Practitioners Tribunal has suspended him from practising medicine for six months.
