GB News regular Mike Parry has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer. The broadcaster shared the news during an appearance on the Storm & Alexis programme on Channel 5, where he discussed his health struggles.
Parry discovered cancerous growths on his right eye and nose. A wound on his eyebrow, stemming from an incident over 50 years ago, had reopened and failed to heal. Additionally, a 'bubble' on his nose that had been present for a decade was found to be cancerous following recent tests. He has undergone biopsies, including on his shoulder, and is scheduled for hospital treatment.
Remaining upbeat, Parry told hosts Storm Huntley and Alexis Conran: 'I'm extremely confident that everything will be sorted very quickly and I will be back to normal.' He admitted that the word 'cancer' had caught him off guard, but his dermatologist had assured him that other cancerous areas discovered during the examination were dealt with immediately by being 'frozen off'.
Parry explained that the treatment was 'quite painful' and lasted several days. The mark near his eye originally prompted him to seek medical attention about a year ago when it started opening up again. He noted that the make-up team were having increasing trouble hiding it. The dermatologist also observed that the growth on his nose had spread, and Parry was told he would need to lose his right eyebrow during treatment.
When asked about sun exposure, Parry stated he is 'the least likely victim of getting skin cancer by exposure to sunlight', as he has always disliked the sun and avoided it during summer. He questioned his doctor about how this could have happened, but was told that at his age, anyone can develop skin cancer.
