Meghan Markle is set to visit a hospital in the UK when she accompanies Prince Harry to his home country next month, marking her first public engagement in Britain in six years. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will fly from Montecito to the UK in July with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a five-day trip.
Invictus Games countdown and hospital visit
The main engagement is the one-year countdown event to the 2027 Invictus Games on July 10 at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre. However, it has been reported that Meghan, 44, will also visit a hospital during the trip. According to The Telegraph, the couple will undertake meetings and at least one public event together, with Harry, 41, expected to carry out various engagements from July 7 until July 11.
These include a charity festival for bereaved children and a visit to Birmingham Children's Hospital to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its WellChild Nurse programme, which supports children and families with complex medical conditions. Meghan is likely to attend the hospital visit with her husband.
Private time and royal meetings
In addition to public engagements, the couple will have private time, likely including meetings with royal relatives. They are also expected to attend Invictus-related meetings at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Before returning to the US, Harry is believed to attend Scotty's Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire, an event for bereaved military children from the charity Scotty's Little Soldiers.
While Archie and Lilibet will accompany their parents, they are not expected to make any public appearances. The upcoming trip marks the first time the family of four has visited Harry's home country together since 2022, and it was confirmed this week that they will stay in a royal residence.
Background on the Sussexes' UK visits
The couple, who quit royal life in 2020, last visited the UK together in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. This trip signifies a gradual return to public duties in the UK, with Meghan's hospital visit being a notable solo engagement.
