Sky Sports pundit Mark Webster is set to make his return to the commentary box on Thursday, following encouraging developments in his battle against a rare form of blood cancer. The 42-year-old Welshman, who won the British Darts Organisation World Championship in 2008, has been absent from his broadcasting duties since commencing chemotherapy in February after being diagnosed with hairy cell leukaemia.
Progress in Recovery
Last week, Webster had expressed concerns about the pace of his recovery, stating that "at the minute my recovery is not going to plan in terms of the speed of it." However, on Tuesday, he shared uplifting news with his followers. Reposting a video in which he originally disclosed his diagnosis, Webster wrote on X: "I'm delighted to say that since this interview was filmed, things have improved."
He added: "Although I'm still undergoing treatment, I have been cleared to return to Premier League duty on Thursday. Looking forward to being back amongst it. Thanks again for all of the love and support."
Return to Premier League Coverage
Webster's comeback will coincide with the Premier League event in Birmingham on Thursday night, where he will resume his role as a commentator and analyst. His return marks a significant milestone in his treatment journey, and he expressed gratitude for the public's continued support throughout his ordeal.
