Manchester teacher fighting for life in Dubai after stillbirth

Zoey Campbell-Lowndes, a teacher originally from Manchester, is in a critical condition in a Dubai hospital after the loss of her unborn baby, with medical costs already surpassing £100,000.

Zoey was 30 weeks pregnant when she and her partner Kevin received the news that their baby boy had died. She underwent a Caesarean section to deliver the baby, and her family say her health has since deteriorated significantly.

Critical Condition and Intensive Care

Zoey has spent three days in intensive care and is currently in an induced coma while doctors treat her, according to a fundraiser set up to support the family.

Her liver and kidneys are failing, and she has suffered two episodes of internal bleeding. She has required blood transfusions and dialysis, and her condition remains extremely serious.

Financial Burden and Fundraising Effort

Zoey's birth plan insurance does not cover her care, as it covers the baby but not medical emergencies involving the mother, the family said. The surgeries and ongoing care have placed an overwhelming financial burden on the family.

More than 1,500 people have donated nearly £80,000 to support Zoey's medical bills. The family said: "We never imagined finding ourselves in this position. Our family is grieving the loss of a precious little boy while desperately hoping and praying that Zoey will pull through."

They added: "Having to worry about the cost of medical treatment on top of such an unimaginable loss is something no family should ever have to face. We never imagined we would have to ask for help like this, but right now, we are holding on to hope for Zoey. We want to give her every possible chance to recover and come home to the people who love her."
