Emergency services were called to Deansgate at 10.45pm on Saturday night (August 1) after a man fell and injured his head.
Greater Manchester Police said the man was taken to hospital in a serious condition. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Heavy presence at Deansgate and Market Street
Video footage circulating online shows a heavy emergency services presence at the junction of Deansgate and Market Street. An area of the street was taped off by the traffic lights.
Multiple GMP vehicles, ambulance service response vehicles and at least one fire engine were in attendance. An air ambulance critical care team vehicle was also at the scene.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had been called out to support GMP.
