Brittany Parks, known for her role in Glee, has revealed she is battling stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. The 37-year-old dancer shared the news on social media, posting images from the past few months that show her treatment journey and the support of her friends. Her co-star Heather Morris has set up a GoFundMe page aiming to raise $50,000 (£37,085) to cover Brittany's medical expenses.
Brittany's announcement
In her post, Brittany wrote: "You never think you’ll be the one sitting here trying to figure out the best way to tell the people you know and love that you have cancer…but here we are. I’ve been diagnosed with stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer."
She added: "Since my diagnosis it has been non-stop tests, doctor’s appointments, and mental rollercoasters. However, working closely with my doctors I feel confident and at ease with the treatment plan I am currently undergoing."
Support from Glee co-stars
Heather Morris, who played Brittany Pierce on the show, commented: "My queen. You’re the strongest b***h I know. Stronger than this diagnosis. I love you so deep it hurts and I got you like you had me at my toughest. Forever and beyond."
Kevin McHale, who played Artie, also shared his support: "You are the strongest and most powerful among us. This is another, albeit hard, chapter of a long beautiful story. Love you so stupidly much it hurts. We got you." Jenna Ushkowitz, who played Tina, commented: "You are amazing and the bravest. I love you" Other co-stars including Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin, and Alex Newell also expressed their love and support.
GoFundMe details
The GoFundMe page, set up by Heather Hubbell (Heather Morris' married name), states: "All funds raised will go directly to Brittany's rent, daily living expenses, food, and medical co-pays. Your support will give her the time and peace she needs to focus on healing and fighting her illness, without the added burden of financial worries."
So far, $37,469 (£27,872.20) has been raised, with choreographer Rustin Matthew donating $5,000 and 8 Count Dance Academy in Los Angeles contributing $1,000.
Brittany is also known for her dance work in films like Annie (2014), Teen Beach 2 (2015), and La La Land (2016).
