Dad Faints During Wife's C-Section in Brazil

A father in Brazil collapsed in the delivery room while witnessing his wife give birth via caesarean section, a moment captured on camera.

Maicon Pedroso lost consciousness at a hospital in Criciúma on April 18 as his wife, Mariane Felippe, delivered their second daughter. A medic had to steady him as he fainted, gently lowering him to the floor.

Maicon told local media he did not remember anything from the moment the baby was born, waking up in hospital some time later. The couple had arrived at the hospital in the early hours after Ms Felippe's waters broke, and doctors decided on a C-section.

Two photographers, Patricia Vogel and Viviane Borges, were documenting the birth and noted that everything had been calm until the exact moment of delivery. They said they had seen men faint before in their five years of attending over 1,500 births. Medics, however, were reportedly surprised by the father's collapse.

Maicon recovered quickly and was able to spend time with his newborn. The video of the incident has been viewed nearly 19 million times online, drawing comments from viewers who both sympathised with and joked about the father's reaction.
