A mother of four from Essex has spoken of her life-changing dental transformation after living on soup and hiding her smile for years. Alison Thompson, 57, from Great Dunmow, said her teeth became uneven and wobbly due to gum disease and a failing bridge, leaving her unable to eat properly and self-conscious in public.
After an initial trip to Turkey seven years ago revealed she needed implants rather than veneers, Ms Thompson researched her options and chose Dentum, a private clinic in Croatia. She said the process was efficient, with checks and X-rays on arrival and treatment beginning the next day.
Ms Thompson had all her remaining teeth removed before implants were fitted on both top and bottom. She described the procedure as “traumatic” but trusted the process. The total cost was around £12,000, significantly less than the £25,000 she believes it would have cost privately in the UK.
Before treatment, Ms Thompson’s diet was limited to soups and soft foods, and she avoided eating in public. Now, working in wedding event planning, she says she can eat anything and feels confident smiling. “I wish I’d done it sooner,” she said.
