Recent data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has revealed the five healthiest towns in Britain, where residents enjoy the longest lifespan. The areas with the highest life expectancy at birth, for both males and females, are mainly in the south of England, while the local areas with the lowest life expectancy are concentrated in the north of England and in Scotland.
Berkshire town tops the list
The study revealed that a market town in Berkshire is where people live the longest, as reported by The Sunday Times Growing Old Index and Health Connect Global.
The ONS added: "Looking at the United Kingdom as a whole, Blackpool had the lowest male life expectancy (73.7 years) for a second consecutive period. Glasgow City continued to have the lowest female life expectancy in 2022 to 2024 (78.7 years), having had the lowest for the previous eight periods, since 2014 to 2016."
