A single mother from Buckinghamshire has issued an emotional plea for help to fund alternative cancer treatment after being diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 cancer. Victoria Baillon, 37, from Hazlemere, is fighting to prolong her life so she can spend more time with her two young children, Austin, eight, and Eva, six.
Victoria has not yet told her children about her diagnosis but plans to explain the situation to them soon as the disease progresses. She said: 'My children are my whole world, I adore them so much. Every time I see their happy faces they make me feel so loved and I realise why I need to fight as hard as I can.'
Victoria was first diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in November 2020 and underwent a mastectomy, believing she had the all-clear. However, the cancer later spread to her neck, spine, liver and lungs. Despite being told she would not be able to stand for a year, she amazed doctors by walking, dancing and even running.
In December, doctors revealed that treatment was no longer working and she had advanced Stage 4 metastasis to the bone. Victoria is now planning end-of-life care at age 37. She said: 'I've had to have talks about end of life care, resuscitation, hospice care and what the outlook is realistically like for me, which has been absolutely heartbreaking.'
Friends have raised £22,000 for an oxygen chamber, but Victoria needs an additional £40,000 for immunotherapy not available on the NHS. She said: 'I don't have months to wait for funds. It's at a severe stage now that I need these treatments within weeks. I absolutely hate asking but I am desperate, for the sake of my beautiful children.'
