Earlier this month, Collins had shared that her 70-year-old mother was 'really struggling' and urged fans to pray for her. She had described the previous week as the 'toughest week' of her life. Joan has been hospitalised several times in recent years, and last year Collins revealed that her mother had been kept in hospital after a routine check-up.
In a previous interview with The Sun, Collins disclosed that doctors had warned her mother could die and would not be resuscitated if she went into cardiac arrest. She described the news as a 'massive shock'.
Pneumonia, an inflammation of the lungs usually caused by infection, can be particularly serious for older people and those with underlying health conditions. The NHS advises that most people recover within two to four weeks, but hospital treatment may be required for severe cases.
Meanwhile, Collins has hinted at a potential move to Dubai, posting on Instagram Stories that she is 'seriously thinking to move my family to Dubai' and asking followers for recommendations on where to live. She recently flew back to Dubai after visiting her mother in hospital.
