Michael Phillips, a man from North Carolina, US, whose penis measures less than a centimetre (0.38 inches), is set to undergo girth enhancement surgery funded by public donations. The procedure, using a semi-permanent dermal filler, is described as 'life-changing' and aims to help him use the bathroom more easily and feel less self-conscious.
Fundraising success
Phillips raised the necessary funds through a GoFundMe campaign and media appearances, including an interview on ITV's This Morning. He expressed gratitude for reaching the $6,000 (£4,500) donation goal, which has now been exceeded.
In a statement, he wrote: "Because my story was recently shared in the media, this fundraiser has exceeded its original goal. Thank you to everyone who has donated!"
Impact on daily life
The condition has affected his sex life and self-esteem. Phillips noted that "the biggest challenges I’ve faced [are] having a sexual relationship and still being a virgin and being able to talk about it openly because of how embarrassing of a topic it is."
He described the surgery as "a big step toward living with more dignity and independence." The additional funds will cover medical costs, post-procedure prescriptions, travel, lodging, and living expenses during recovery.
Procedure limitations
While the procedure will not cure his micropenis condition, Phillips hopes it will help him avoid the need for pull-ups and regain a sense of normalcy. He acknowledged that his story has brought awareness but also emotional weight.
