Corrie's Emrhys Cooper: 'I felt like I was going to cry' after life-changing smile transformation
Emrhys Cooper emotional after transformative dental work

Former Coronation Street actor Emrhys Cooper has spoken exclusively about the profound emotional impact of a major appearance transformation, admitting he was nearly moved to tears by the results.

A Smile Held Hostage by Accident and Insecurity

The 40-year-old actor's journey began years ago with an unfortunate accident involving a bottle and a drunken friend, which damaged his teeth. A dentist applied temporary bonding to his veneers as a fix, but over time, the solution became a source of lasting distress. The bonding colour wore away and chips became glaringly visible, particularly under the harsh lights of film sets, affecting his professional work and personal confidence.

Despite his unhappiness, Cooper revealed he spent years feeling he was neither "deserving" nor financially secure enough to address the issue. He prioritised a showbiz lifestyle in Los Angeles, where he was living, over his dental health.

The Sober Decision That Led to a New Smile

Everything changed when Cooper embraced a new, sober lifestyle. This shift in perspective gave him the clarity and determination to finally seek a permanent solution for his smile. After receiving quotes in Los Angeles ranging from a staggering "forty to one hundred grand," he turned his research abroad.

"After doing a lot of research, I looked into Turkey where I'd heard good things," Cooper explained. Following multiple consultations, he chose the clinic Dentakay, paying approximately £5,820 for comprehensive treatment including implants and root canals. He was adamant about avoiding an artificial look, seeking a natural result which his dental team supported.

Liberation from Self-Consciousness

The outcome was transformative. "When I got my new teeth, I genuinely felt like I was gonna cry," he confessed. "For a long time, I didn't believe I deserved to fix my teeth. Now it's given me a huge boost of confidence and a deeper sense of self-worth."

This new-found assurance has directly impacted his acting career. He no longer feels the need to hide his smile or feels paranoid when the camera closes in. "It was just liberating to feel free of those concerns," he said, noting that he can now be fully present in his work without being distracted by his appearance.

Cooper also highlighted the broader health implications, citing modern understanding of links between neglected dental health and serious conditions like heart disease and dementia. His experience with Dentakay, which he described as "seamless and truly incredible," has opened a "new door of possibilities." His final piece of advice for others is simple: "Do your research and find the right place for you."
