Motherwell and Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson has selected Wishaw charity founder Les Hoey MBE as her Local Hero to attend the official opening of the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood. The ceremony, which celebrates community contributions across Scotland, will see Mr Hoey join other local heroes in recognition of his decades of service.

Les Hoey MBE founded the DreamMaker Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting seriously ill children, young people and their families. Ms Adamson praised Mr Hoey's contributions, stating: “Through his vision, compassion and determination, Les has helped create life-changing experiences and lasting memories for children facing some of the most difficult challenges imaginable.” She highlighted that the foundation works tirelessly to bring joy and hope to young people living with serious illnesses, while also providing invaluable support to their families.
“Over the years, Les has made a profound difference to countless lives, ensuring that children and young people are given the chance to enjoy special experiences, fulfil dreams and create precious memories. His commitment to improving the lives of others has made the DreamMaker Foundation a beacon of hope for families across Scotland,” Ms Adamson added.
