A reactive husky named Wiley has melted hearts after forming an instant bond with a new rescue sibling at a dog shelter. The eight-year-old husky became reactive to other dogs after witnessing his owner, Sally Compton, being attacked by a dog at a park when he was three.
Despite his reactivity, Wiley's owners worried he was bored and hoped to introduce him to a sibling. They felt nervous about bringing a new dog home, so they took Wiley to the shelter to meet potential matches. They met a one-year-old German shepherd husky mix who had been at the shelter for five months.
In a controlled introduction, Wiley sat in the back of the car while the new dog approached. Both dogs' tails started wagging, and they sniffed each other. The couple then took them to a private Sniffspot for an off-leash meeting. In a TikTok video, Sally said: 'I was so nervous that he was going to be aggressive but I couldn't believe what I saw next. They almost immediately started playing and chasing each other.'
The couple brought the new dog, named Disco, home the same day. Sally told Newsweek: 'I hadn't seen him play or run like that in several years. We decided it was a perfect fit.' Since then, the bond has grown, with Disco acting as an 'annoying little sister' who constantly wants to be around Wiley.
