A cat believed to be the oldest in the UK has died at the age of nearly 28. Flossie, a tortoiseshell moggie from Kent, passed away peacefully at home, her owner confirmed.
Flossie was born in 1995 and was recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest living cat in 2022. Her owner, Vicki Green, said Flossie had been a beloved companion for many years.
“She was a wonderful cat and we had many happy years together. She will be greatly missed,” Green said.

Flossie's death means the title of oldest cat in the UK is now vacant, though there is no official record-keeping for such informal titles. The oldest cat ever recorded remains Creme Puff from Texas, who died in 2005 at the age of 38.
