Niall Horan, the 32-year-old former One Direction star, was forced to cancel his Pennsylvania concert at the last minute on 19 July 2026 due to severe weather warnings. The show, scheduled at Hersheypark Stadium alongside singer-songwriter Thomas Rhett, was called off just hours before it was due to start after consultations with a meteorologist.
Decision Made After Morning Consultations
The artists and their teams, including promoters and a meteorologist, had been meeting since 9am to assess the situation. In a joint statement released by Horan and Rhett, they explained: "We’ve been sat with our teams and the promoters and meteorologist all morning since 9am and it feels like there’s a lot of severe weather in the area and some bad weather conditions and thunderstorms threatening the show." The statement added: "So, we’ve been kind of forced into a corner and we will have to reschedule a show to tomorrow night."
Refunds and Rescheduling Details
Fans who held tickets for the original date were informed they could attend the rescheduled show the following night or receive a full refund. The statement concluded: "We’re obviously sad that we have to do this, but this is what we have to do." Rhett emphasised the priority of fan safety, saying: "We want to give you all the show that we have prepared and we just couldn’t guarantee that for tonight." He noted it was "a miracle that the venue’s available tomorrow" and that both artists would still be in town to perform.
Connection to Harry Styles' Wembley Residency
The cancellation comes shortly after Horan's One Direction bandmate Harry Styles made history with a 12-show residency at Wembley Stadium. During his final gig, Styles paid tribute to their former bandmate Liam Payne, who tragically died in October 2024 at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Styles appeared visibly emotional as he reflected on his career and thanked all four One Direction members, saying: "I wanna thank Niall, Zayn, Louis and my dear friend Liam." He also displayed a throwback photo of the group on the big screen.
One Direction's Legacy
One Direction formed on The X Factor in 2010 after individual auditions, finishing third in the competition but achieving global fame. The group's members have since pursued solo careers, with Horan's tour being a continuation of his post-band success.
