King Charles Blasted on GB News Over Palace Residence Decision

King Charles has come under fire on GB News following the revelation that Buckingham Palace will no longer serve as the monarch's primary residence for the first time since 1839. The decision means the King and Queen Camilla will continue to reside at Clarence House, despite nearly £370 million of taxpayers' money being spent on renovating Buckingham Palace.

GB News Host and Comedian Criticize Palace Decision

During a segment on GB News, host Patrick Christys was joined by comedian Archie Manners, who expressed strong opinions on the matter. Manners fumed: "These headlines are utterly absurd, tens of thousands of people have died in Venezuela," before raging: "It's not his home, you don't have a bedroom in the office back there ... he's made a functional office for the head of state, thank goodness for that!" He added: "This was a building riddled with asbestos; we now have a reasonable place where he can conduct state business. I think that's wonderful."

Communication Concerns Raised

Patrick Christys argued that the issue lies in communication: "For me, the issue is about communication because when they looked to increase the money they wanted for the refurbishment, they said if the King and Queen were going to live there, that it needed to be done properly. It did give the impression that one of the reasons we were paying so much was because that would be their home."

This development marks a significant shift in royal tradition, as Buckingham Palace has been the official residence of the monarch since Queen Victoria's reign. The renovation project, which has cost taxpayers £369 million, was initially justified as necessary to make the palace safe and suitable for the royal family.
