Jon Snow shares Alzheimer's update after charity fashion launch

Channel 4 News legend Jon Snow has given an update on his battle with Alzheimer's disease after being diagnosed back in 2023. Earlier this year, Jon confirmed that doctors had given him the diagnosis, sharing his experience on Channel 4 documentary Jon Snow: A Last Big Story.

Charity fashion collaboration

Now Jon has collaborated with designer Victoria Richards to release a limited edition silk tie and a collection of colourful luxury socks to raise money for Alzheimer's Society, and given an update on the support he has received from fans and friends so far.

Jon said: “Anyone who knows me knows I’ve never been afraid of a bit of colour! I’m delighted to have worked with Victoria on these special designs for Alzheimer’s Society, and I hope people will enjoy wearing them while supporting a cause that’s very close to my heart.

“I’ve been incredibly touched by the support I’ve received since speaking about my own diagnosis.

“If these designs can help raise awareness, as well as vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society, that makes them all the more special.”

Product details and pricing

Jon’s new socks are made by Corgi Hosiery from soft Welsh cotton, and pre-orders are open now. The hand-painted silk tie was designed and handcrafted by Victoria in her London studio.

The limited edition tie retails at £90, while the socks are available for £18.99.

Diagnosis and personal reflections

Jon went public with his diagnosis in June 2026, but admitted he was still questioning his diagnosis. He told the Daily Mail: “I mean sometimes I doubt whether I’ve really got it. I don’t know if it’s widespread knowledge. I don’t feel disabled in any way.”

He explained in his Channel 4 documentary: “At the beginning I wanted to hide it, there’s so much prejudice. Any sort of hint of mental decay, you're sort of dead.

“There are moments when it pops up but it's not an all day every day condition, and that's what I cling onto.”

Jon lost his mother, Joan, to Alzheimer’s disease when she was in her 80s. He said: “It is a horrible disease because she is still physically your mum. She sounds like her, but you can’t have a conversation with her.”
