Huge Wildfire in North Wales Forces Evacuations

Firefighters are continuing to battle a huge wildfire in north Wales that has forced local residents to evacuate their homes and left roads closed. A major incident was declared on Sunday night as crews responded to wildfires in Conwy, Gwynedd, and Flintshire.

Fire Burning Since Sunday Morning

A fire has been burning since Sunday morning in the Sychnant Pass area, forcing some residents to evacuate from nearby communities. Service Delivery Manager Jami Jennings of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters remain on scene working in challenging conditions to contain the fire and protect surrounding communities, property, infrastructure and the environment.”

Coordinated Response Underway

Jennings added: “The incident involves a co-ordinated response from multiple fire appliances, specialist wildfire resources and partner agencies. Due to the size and complexity of the incident, operations are expected to continue for some time.”
