Fire Contained Quickly
Fire crews responded promptly, limiting damage to the vehicle. Photos show rubbish strewn across the street as firefighters extinguished the flames and investigated the cause. Cardiff Council stated: 'One of our refuse vehicles caught fire this week. Thankfully, the fire brigade responded quickly and damage was minimal.'

The council's investigation found batteries and gas canisters in the waste load, with bike batteries identified as the likely culprit. A council spokesperson said: 'This is the second vehicle fire in just two weeks and serves as an important reminder: never place batteries, gas canisters, vapes or other hazardous items in your household bin.'

Residents are urged to dispose of batteries, gas canisters, vapes, and other hazardous items at designated locations, including supermarkets, community recycling zones, or Cardiff's household waste recycling centres on Lamby Way and Bessemer Close.
