Amanda Owen Battles 'Seriously Cold Conditions' on Her Yorkshire Farm
Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen tackles farm freeze

Amanda Owen, the beloved star of Channel 5's Our Yorkshire Farm, has given fans a raw insight into the harsh realities of her life off-screen, candidly discussing a battle with "seriously cold conditions" on her remote Ravenseat Farm.

A Frigid Search on the Moors

The 50-year-old shepherdess, who announced her separation from husband Clive Owen in 2022 but continues to run the farm and co-parent their nine children, took to Instagram to share her latest challenge. In a series of videos posted on Monday, 7th January 2026, she documented her difficult quest to find a specific sheep, nicknamed 'Blindie Eye', in treacherous weather.

Owen was seen trudging through icy fields as conditions deteriorated from a hard freeze to driving, wet snow. "The weather has taken a turn for the worst," she explained to the camera. "It is now snowing and it is so cold... it's just snowing; before it was just icy but now it's wet snow." The search proved fruitless, forcing her to retreat to her truck for safety.

'I Can Only Do My Best'

Despite the setback, the resilient farmer maintained her characteristic determination mixed with pragmatism. Speaking about the missing ewe, she said, "No sign of Blindie Eye but I'm sure she is fine... I just wanted to treat her but anyway I can only do my best."

In her caption, Owen elaborated on the extreme conditions that have left her "so far behind with EVERYTHING." She described temperatures well below zero combined with a biting wind chill that "takes your breath away." She noted that the sheep was last seen days prior, moving quickly with its head up as if visually impaired, and has been playing a frustrating game of "hide and seek... with sheep" ever since.

Fan Support Floods In

The post prompted an outpouring of admiration and concern from her followers. Comments praised her unwavering commitment, with one fan declaring, "You are so committed," while another called her a "warrior shepherdess." Others acknowledged her toughness in facing the elements year-round, with one supporter writing, "To have such an experience. A mother who never gives up fighting against the scorching heat of summer, the rain of spring, and the snow of winter."

This glimpse into Amanda Owen's daily life reinforces the authentic challenges of farming in one of Britain's most beautiful but unforgiving landscapes, far removed from the comforts of television production.
