North Lanarkshire Council Backs Scotland Loves Local Campaign

Think Local First – that’s the key message of this year’s Scotland Loves Local campaign being backed by North Lanarkshire Council. The local authority is supporting the initiative by showcasing some of the businesses that make its communities unique.

Running until June 20, Scotland Loves Local Week celebrates the small businesses in towns and villages that supply local residents and support the economy. The theme of this year’s campaign is Flying the Flag for Local Businesses – as Scotland’s national football team competes in the World Cup, communities are being encouraged to show their support by flying the flag for their local businesses and the people behind them.

Provost Kenneth Duffy said: “Behind every small business is a neighbour, friend or family member from our community, offering a unique, personal service that contributes to making our towns and villages special. Local businesses help protect jobs, encourage investment and create vibrant, attractive places to live and work. Scotland Loves Local Week is a reminder to us all to support those small businesses and the people who run them, rather than shopping online or further afield – Think Local First.”
