The Market Quarter Festival is returning to Southport on Saturday, July 18, as the town prepares to welcome around 300,000 visitors during The 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. The free event will run from 10am to 8pm, transforming the area with live music, family entertainment, community activities, and independent traders.
Festival Highlights and Entertainment
The festival will feature performances across indoor and outdoor stages, including the outdoor Main Stage on Market Street and the indoor Acoustic Stage inside Southport Market. Confirmed performers include Cara Ceol, Fishheads, The Yee Haws, and Adam Parry. Live music will run throughout the afternoon and evening, creating a festival atmosphere across the Market Quarter.
Families can enjoy the Big Family Disco at 12pm and 3pm in the Extravaganza Room, with ticketed sessions featuring live DJs, party games, giveaways, and a bouncy castle. Free entertainment for younger visitors includes Mr Tumble & Friends on the outdoor stage from 10am to 12pm, kicking off the day's celebrations with family-friendly fun before the live music programme begins.

He added that visitors can expect an exciting line-up of live music, family entertainment, great food, and a welcoming community atmosphere with something for everyone. Although Southport Market is open every day throughout The Open, the Market Quarter Festival is only taking place on the Saturday. The 154th Open Championship runs until Sunday evening, with around 300,000 visitors expected to descend on the town as Royal Birkdale Golf Club hosts the prestigious championship.
