Health Risks and Symptoms

Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause salmonellosis, a common form of food poisoning. According to the NHS, up to 23,000 people in the UK are infected each year. Symptoms include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. While most people recover within days, the infection can be severe for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Between 30 and 50 deaths from Salmonella are estimated annually in the UK.

The NHS advises that individuals with symptoms are highly infectious and should stay home from work, school, or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours.

Consumer Advice

An FSA spokesperson said: "If you have bought any of the products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund." Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in affected stores to inform customers about the recall.
