Flash Outperforms Viakal in Limescale Removal Test on Bathroom Taps
Flash Beats Viakal in Limescale Removal Test

Journalist Mia O'Hare conducted a head-to-head test of two popular limescale removers on her bathroom taps. The Flash Deep Clean and Hygiene Anti-Bac Bathroom Cleaner outperformed Viakal Classic Limescale Remover Spray, removing more limescale without needing a second application and at a lower cost.

Testing Methodology

O'Hare purchased both products from Asda: Viakal Classic Limescale Remover Spray for £2.65 and Flash Deep Clean and Hygiene Anti-Bac Bathroom Cleaner for £2.44. She applied one spray to each tap following the manufacturers' instructions. Viakal required a three-minute wait, while Flash specified five minutes.

Viakal Results

After three minutes, O'Hare rinsed and scrubbed the tap treated with Viakal. Substantial chunks of limescale remained, and some stubborn patches were barely affected. A second application would have been necessary, but she skipped it to keep the comparison fair.

Flash Results

The Flash spray did not coat the tap as thoroughly as Viakal, but after five minutes and a wipe and rinse, the majority of limescale lifted. A thorough scrub with a sponge left the tap considerably cleaner, with no need for a second application.

Verdict

Both products were straightforward, but Flash emerged as the clear winner. It removed more limescale in a single application, cost 21p less, and offers additional benefits: it tackles soap scum and kills 99.9% of bacteria. O'Hare concluded that Flash is the better choice for future limescale removal.
