Katie Price Slammed as 'Irresponsible' for Buying £2,000 Dog While Cat Missing
Katie Price Slammed for Buying £2,000 Dog While Cat Missing

Katie Price has been criticised by animal rights activists for buying a new dog in Dubai while her cat Doris is seemingly still missing. Days ago, the former glamour model, 48, took to Instagram to share that two of her Sphinx cats had gone missing or been 'stolen'. While one returned, she offered no update on Doris. Instead, she's been in Dubai and bought a £2,000 puppy with her husband, Lee Andrews.

Outrage Over New Puppy Purchase

The couple signed paperwork for a male Pomsky – a Pomeranian crossed with a Husky – sparking outrage, especially as she has a controversial history with pets. In a statement shared with Metro, Peta UK's Senior Vice President Mimi Bekhechi said: 'Is there no low to which Katie Price will not stoop? While one of her cats, Doris, is reportedly still missing, instead of being worried sick and out searching for her, as any caring, responsible guardian would, she has flown to another country and acquired a new dog, as easily as one replaces a pair of socks.'

Katie has been busy jetting back and forth to Dubai after her husband was detained, leaving her pets at home with someone else. On her story, she posted a video of a Husky-style dog in a kennel with a big sign saying 'sold' on the window. This dog would be the first animal in Dubai, where she seems to be building her life with Lee, who is rumoured to be unable to leave the UAE.

Peta Renews £5,000 Offer

Mimi continued: 'A Pomsky of all animals, in the Dubai heat, to add insult to injury. How many animals have been lost, discarded, or have died under her so-called “care” before authorities ban her from keeping animals? Peta's £5,000 offer for her to stop collecting animals still stands, and we implore her to take us up on it – for the sake of Doris, this puppy, and any other animals unfortunate enough to cross her path.'

Their new puppy and missing cat came days after now-freed Lee claimed one of her eight cats had died, which has not been confirmed by the reality star herself. She posted a plea for anyone in the area to be on the lookout and return Doris to Arun Vets in Storrington if she is found. 'I came to Dubai Wednesday, and my cats were home Tuesday night,' she wrote on an Instagram Story. 'I live in a private area and my cats don't just disappear. Whoever has them return them. They are my babies.'

One Cat Returns, Doris Still Missing

Several hours later, one cat, Eilleen, 'walked through the door', with a video shared of her drinking water as the UK heatwave continued. In the last update, Doris was apparently still missing, with no further assurances of her whereabouts from Katie. Katie then returned to her usual posting, promoting CBD oil and sharing a snap of her and Lee's hands, calling him 'the best husband'. 'Completes me in every f**ked up way,' she wrote. 'Met my perfect match and nothing will defy us!' She then posted a picture of 'mini me' daughter Princess, who was sporting long blonde curls. Still no update on Doris' whereabouts.

Katie Price's Tragic Pet History

Katie's history with pets is an incredibly tragic one, with at least eight animals known to have died in her care. One of the animals was a kitten that Doris had given birth to last year, with two other kittens reportedly surviving. The string of fatalities led to over 37,000 people signing a petition calling for her to be banned from owning pets in 2020, with a fresh one made in 2025. Peta previously weighed in, going so far as to offer £5,000 in exchange for signing a 'legally binding agreement promising never to acquire another animal'.

In response to the open letter, Katie's rep told the MailOnline: 'Kate has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media. If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.'

Katie has continued to keep animals, including her four cats, although Lee recently claimed one of the cats had died. During a Cameo, he said: 'She's got five Sphynxes actually. One has just passed away. Sorry, eight Sphynxes, five dogs. Eight Sphynxes, now seven, one passed away.' Katie herself has not confirmed the loss of another cat, other than Doris going missing while she's away. Metro has reached out to Katie's team for comment.
