Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been criticised by a royal insider for their 'persistent delusion' as their plans to visit the UK collapse. The couple had hoped to stay in a royal residence, marking their first joint UK visit since the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. However, the trip may not proceed after they were denied taxpayer-funded security.
Security Denial Sparks Family Visit Uncertainty
Harry's bid for enhanced security was rejected, prompting him to consider 'all options' to allow his family to join him. His security level changed after stepping down as a working royal in 2020, leading to a legal battle with the Home Office. Reports indicate Harry could fly his wife and children from mainland Europe for less than 24 hours, but he remains determined to bring them as originally planned despite the denial of a review for 24/7 taxpayer-funded protection.
Tina Brown Accuses Couple of 'Magical Thinking'
Journalist and Princess Diana friend Tina Brown, writing on her Fresh Hell Substack, accused the couple of using their children as leverage for security. 'If Harry thought that bringing his children would force Ravec’s hand, he was, as he is so often, hopelessly misguided,' she wrote. Brown added that 'the only rug under the Sussexes is a flying carpet on which they circle the globe in a cloud of persistent delusion.' She criticised their tendency to 'make premature announcements before the underlying facts have been nailed down,' attributing their troubles to 'magical thinking that what they want will become instant reality, starting with Megxit itself.'
Family Rifts Deepen
Brown noted that Harry's relatives, apart from his father, have 'moved on.' She highlighted that Harry was allegedly not invited to the wedding of his cousin Peter Phillips, Princess Anne's son, who consoled him after Diana's death. 'A person close to Harry told me he desperately misses his father and wants his children to know him. He also very much misses William,' Brown wrote. However, an old friend of William's revealed that during a recent conversation, 'Harry’s name never even came up,' underscoring the ongoing rift.
