Darren Docherty, a joiner and street vigilante, has been exposed as the leader of a new far-right group called Scots Active, which organised a counter-demonstration during a massive anti-racism protest in Glasgow on June 13. The group, which denies being racist, claims to patrol Glasgow streets to protect women and children from criminals. However, a Daily Record investigation revealed that the group operates a sinister WhatsApp group under the banner 'Get These C**** Out!', which quickly amassed 1,000 members after a rallying cry on social media. The protest saw clashes with police, targeting of ethnic minorities, and Nazi salutes.
Scots Active's Origins and Leadership
Scots Active launched in 2025, inspired by fascist “active clubs” from the USA and Eastern Europe, which encourage young people to get fit to “protect their nation's” white heritage. Docherty, who also runs DK Flooring, uses the same phone number for both his business and the WhatsApp group. The group was previously banned from TikTok for violating guidelines and recruiting members. Videos shared on their TikTok account show hooded members harassing a black man during street patrols.
Violent Protests and Coordination with Other Groups
On June 12, Scots Active members joined forces with LJ’s Security Street Team and the North2South street patrol, marching through Glasgow in militia-style black clothing and anti-stab vests. LJ’s Security also carries out “street patrols” to protect the public, describing their actions as “looking after our own.” They posted videos harassing black men, filming food delivery bikes, and squabbling among themselves. The groups were further incited by the murder of Henry Nowak in Southampton, which sparked fury among right-wing extremists like Tommy Robinson.
Condemnation from Local Politicians and Activists
Scottish Labour MSP Paul Sweeney condemned the groups, stating: “Racist thugs and hooligans wearing balaclavas and spreading hate have no place in society. It is utterly abhorrent to shout vile racist abuse, intimidate people on our streets, and to fight with police. We cannot have masked yobs spouting their toxic rhetoric rampaging across Glasgow towards places of worship.” Stand Up to Racism spokesman Mohammed Asif added: “These people always say they are not racist but their actions prove that they are. They are talking about Scotland like it is a country of kangaroo courts, where black or brown people pose a threat to white people. This is simply racism.”
The Daily Record has contacted Darren Docherty for comment.
