Tom Brady opens up on divorce impact during final NFL season

Tom Brady has spoken candidly about the challenges of going through his divorce from Gisele Bündchen during his final season in the NFL. The 48-year-old former quarterback made the rare comments on Thursday's episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

Brady described his last year in the league as “tough” due to personal family issues, which he said took a toll on his ability to play. He was playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2022-2023 season, which ended with his retirement in February 2023.

Despite the difficulties, Brady said he felt he had achieved his goal of playing until age 45 and wanted to spend more time with his children. He added that he owed it to his teammates and coaches to give his best, even though the season did not end as well as he had hoped.

Brady and Bündchen announced their divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. Bündchen later denied cheating allegations and married her jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente in December 2025. Brady was recently linked to influencer Alix Earle but hinted he is not currently in a relationship.
