Fans attending The Cure at Blackweir Live on Wednesday, June 24, must adhere to a strict list of prohibited items, while organisers have introduced extra measures to combat the red weather warning for extreme heat affecting south Wales and Cardiff.
Red Heat Warning and Event Status
The UK Met Office has issued a rare red warning for extreme temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday, with record highs for June expected. Schools have closed, and transport authorities advise against non-essential travel. Despite this, the Blackweir Live concert and McFly's gig at Cardiff Castle on Thursday, June 25, are still scheduled to go ahead as of June 23.
Banned Items at The Cure Concert
Attendees should note that chairs, portable seating, foldable furniture, and inflatables are not permitted anywhere on site, including The Garden area. Rucksacks and backpacks larger than A4 size are also banned, and bag searches will be conducted at all entry points. Outside food and drink are not allowed, except for those with medical conditions or dietary requirements who have obtained prior permission from organisers. Such individuals may need to provide a doctor’s letter or NHS app confirmation. Dogs are not allowed except for assistance dogs.
Extra Heatwave Measures
To help fans cope with the heat, organisers have increased the water allowance: each person may now bring two 500ml sealed bottles of water (previously one). Additional shaded areas have been created, and free water refill stations will be available. Plastic refillable water bottles are permitted. Mini fans are allowed, and an enhanced welfare team will be on site. Picnic blankets are allowed but must be placed only at the back of the arena.
