Eve Myles and Charles Dale Star in Channel 5's The Crow Girl

The Crow Girl, an adaptation of Erik Axl Sund's bestselling Scandinavian novel, begins on Channel 5 on Monday, July 20. The detective series stars Welsh actors Eve Myles as DCI Jeanette Kilburn and Charles Dale as her father, Brian Cole. The cast also includes Katherine Kelly, Dougray Scott, Victoria Hamilton, Lee Boardman, Chloé Sweetlove, and Elliot Edusah.

The drama first aired on Paramount+ in January 2025, but will now be broadcast on Channel 5 for the first time. In a unique scheduling move, series one will air on Channel 5 (owned by Paramount) simultaneously with the premiere of season two on Paramount+.

Plot Synopsis: A Chilling Murder Investigation in Bristol

The synopsis for season one reads: "When the bodies of unidentified young men start to show up around Bristol, beaten and full of the anaesthetic Lidocaine, police face mounting pressure and little evidence as they hunt the killer. As more bodies surface - including a child missing for over 10 years - the killer edges closer to home, starting a race against time to untangle a web of secrets."

Eve Myles: DCI Jeanette Kilburn

Eve Myles leads the cast as DCI Jeanette Kilburn. Born in Ystradgynlais, she is best known for her role as Ceri in BBC's Belonging, which she played for nine years from 2000. She is also celebrated for portraying Gwen Cooper in Torchwood, having first appeared in Doctor Who. From 2017, she starred as Faith Howells in the crime drama Keeping Faith, alongside her real-life husband Bradley Freeguard. Other notable roles include Claire Ripley in Broadchurch, Lauren Grey in You, Me and Them, and Alice Sinclair in Hijack. Most recently, she appeared in The Guest, The Hack, and Coldwater.

Katherine Kelly: Dr Sophia Craven

Katherine Kelly plays Dr Sophia Craven, the psychotherapist of the prime suspect. She is widely recognized for her role as Becky Granger on Coronation Street from 2006 to 2012. Since then, she has starred in numerous dramas, including Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack, The Night Manager, and Mr Bates vs. The Post Office. In 2025, she appeared in In Flight and The Hack.

Dougray Scott: DI Lou Stanley

Dougray Scott portrays DI Lou Stanley, Jeanette's partner. He is best known for playing DI Ray Lennox in Irvine Welsh's Crime, as well as roles in Soldier Soldier, Batwoman, Vigil, and Mission Impossible: II. Most recently, he starred in Summerwater, The Hack, and Sherlock & Daughter.

Victoria Hamilton: Superintendent Verity Pound

Victoria Hamilton plays Superintendent Verity Pound. With over 30 years on screen, her early roles include Mrs Forster in Pride and Prejudice (1995) and Henrietta Musgrove in Persuasion (1995). She played Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in The Crown (2016-2017) and has appeared in Doctor Foster, Unforgotten, and Slow Horses. Most recently, she starred in season three of Channel 5's The Teacher.

Lee Boardman: David White

Lee Boardman plays David White. Soap fans know him as villain Jez Quigley on Coronation Street (1997-2000). He has also appeared in Bancroft, The Five, and Rome. More recently, he played Craig in Frauds and Vernon Bradley in The Madame Blanc Mysteries.

Charles Dale: Brian Cole

Charles Dale, from Pembrokeshire, is best known for playing MacKenzie 'Big Mac' Chalker in Casualty (2007-2016, with a return in 2021). He also played Dennis Stringer on Coronation Street (2000-2002) and starred in The Lakes, Sherwood, Unforgotten, and The Pembrokeshire Murders. Most recently, he appeared in Bergerac.

The cast also includes Chloé Sweetlove as Madeleine, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva as Amar, Clara Rugaard as Victoria Burkeman, and Elliot Edusah as DC Mike Dilliston.

The Crow Girl starts on Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday, July 20.
